 Program Overview   study in america

California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) offers both a general Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree and MBA degrees with specializations in Accountancy, Finance, Health Care Management, Human Resources Management, Information Systems, Management, Marketing and General. Additionally, a new joint MBA/MFA degree in Theatre Management, a terminal degree in theatre arts equivalent to a doctorate, will be offered at California State University Long Beach (CSULB) beginning this fall. It is one of just two such programs in the country.
All MBA programs are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business – International (AACSB) and aim to prepare future managers and hone the skills of current business leaders to meet the challenges of an increasingly technology-based global business environment. The behavioral and strategic competencies needed to ensure personal and organizational success are also developed by CSULB MBA students.
The master's degree presupposes a core body of knowledge in the basic theories and practices of business. Candidates whose transcripts do not reflect this foundation are required to take the appropriate first year courses to meet the prerequisites. These course areas include Managerial Financial Accounting; Financial Management; Business Policies, Operations and Organizations; and Marketing Concepts. Once these prerequisites are met, either by waiver or coursework, students move on to the second year core, which consists of seven courses at an advanced MBA level.
In the general MBA program, candidates study all areas of relevance to decision-makers within business structures. These topics include Advanced Cost Accounting, Budgeting and Control (which examines the problems and planning involved in budgeting and cost control from a quantitative analysis approach); and Seminar in Business Finance (which analyzes capital formation with selected problems concerning supply and demand of investment funds, equity capital markets by public taxation, business debt financing and the practices of investing institutions).
Students also study Quantitative Methods for Managerial Decision Making (which applies statistics to business problems using statistical software packages); the issues that affect Human Resources Management including employee commitment and development, employment law and staffing issues; the importance of the Management of Information Systems to businesses today; an analysis of Management Planning and Control Systems; and the solving of practical, profit-oriented problems in marketing using information systems, databases, behavioral theories and specific management techniques.
Options available to students are the Self-Paced Evening MBA, the Fully Employed MBA (FEMBA) Program and the One-Year Accelerated MBA Program. All programs allow candidates to pursue graduate studies while keeping personal and career commitments. The Evening MBA is self-paced for either full- or part-time students. Courses are presented in the late afternoons or evenings during 15-week semesters. The program takes three to four years to complete part-time, and one-and-a-half to two years full-time. The FEMBA is a Saturday fast-track MBA that is a lock-step cohort of 10-week sessions and is completed in less than two years. The One-Year Accelerated MBA Program is a full-time daytime program where students will take both morning and afternoon classes, and finish in approximately 12 months.
The College of Business Administration at CSULB is a member-school of the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), the international standards-making body for MBA admissions, placement and student services. Additionally, The College of Business Administration at California State University, Long Beach has been named one of the nation's most outstanding business schools by The Princeton Review in regard to its executive MBA program, and its part-time/evening MBA program.

International Student Support   study in america

The Office of International Student Services at CSULB serves over 1,800 international students with information and advice on topics ranging from immigration, housing, academics, finances, to university orientation.
Counselors are also available to help with any personal or social issues that may arise during the student's stay. The office aims to help make the transition to a new environment and culture an easier one for international students.

Housing
CSULB is a large campus with over 35,000 students. The Resident Halls house just under 2,000 students and offer a small college "feel." The university works with the facilities, programs and staffing to create a living and learning environment that students can call home. At the same time, off-campus living is a viable option as the Long Beach campus is located in a metropolitan area with a large number and type of living arrangements in nearby locations.
CSULB's Housing Office has Off-Campus Listing Services to assist students. For both on and off-campus housing questions, interested persons may contact CSULB's Housing office at 562-985-4187 or email them at housing@csulb.edu.

International students whose first language is not English must submit a minimum TOEFL score of 550 on the paper-based test, 213 on the computer-based test, or 79 on the Internet-based test. They must also include an Affidavit of Financial Support form and a Bank statement/letter from their financial sponsor showing the resources to cover the costs of study.
A completed application form and a $55 fee must also be submitted.

The current cost of the CSULB MBA Self–Paced Evening Program is $4,100 per year for in-state students and $9,860 per year for out-of-state and international students. Students should also budget approximately $10,800 per year for on-campus housing, $1,200 for books and materials, $970 for transportation and $2,000 for personal needs.
Financial assistance is available in the form of Federal student loans, university scholarships and graduate assistantships. Assistantships are offered on a limited basis to all students and help offset tuition costs. Graduate assistantships are employed to assist faculty in research, advise students and staff computer labs.

Most positions featured by the Internship Program are generally both paid and unpaid internships in both for- and non-profit industries.
