ACCREDITATIE VAN COLLEGE
Doel: om de kwaliteitsnormen van een college en zijn programma’s te waarborgen. Internationale studenten met een F- 1 visa zijn verplicht om zich bij een geaccrediteerde college in te schrijven.

Proces: Een college en/of zijn programma's wordt beoordeeld door een professioneel agentschap die erkend is door de VS Department of Education (USDE), de Council for Higher Education Association (CHEA) en/of de Association of Specialized and Professional Accreditors (ASPA).

Structuur: De colleges kunnen op regionaal, institutioneel en gespecialiseerd programmaniveau worden geaccrediteerd.

Legitimiteit: De staatssecretaris van onderwijs en de CHEA publiceren lijsten met erkende accreditatiebureaus; elke college dient zijn accreditatie op zijn website weer te geven.
